Condair 607 Cylinders to be Replaced with 605 Cylinders
Condair (previously known as Nortec) has officially phased out their 607 cylinder due to performance and reliability concerns. The following Condair humidifiers are impacted by this change:
- ES
- ES Mark 2 (ES MK2)
- MP
- NHB
- NHMC
- NHP
- NHPC & NHPC+
- NHTC & NHTC+
However, if your humidifier currently uses a 607 cylinder, it will not become obsolete. Instead, Condair has created a wiring conversion kit that will allow your humidifier to use a 605 cylinder.
Why Replace the 607 Cylinder with a 605?
The 607 cylinder is a 3-pin cylinder that uses three electrodes to supply currents to the water, whereas the 605 is a 6-pin cylinder. The cylinders require a certain electrical current flow, so with lesser pins, the 607 has a higher amount of electrical current flow per pin, making it more prone to arcing and foaming issues, particularly in units that are improperly maintained or lack proper steam line installation. On the other hand, the 605 cylinder can spread out the current flow amongst its 6 pins and provides comparable performance without the same potential problems. Therefore, Condair will only manufacture and sell the 605 cylinder moving forward.
Condair 607 Cylinder to 605 Conversion Kits
A qualified individual can install a wiring conversion kit that converts a humidifier from using 607 cylinders to use a 605 cylinder instead. This is a one time, permanent conversion that will allow you to avoid replacing your full humidifier because of the 607 cylinder phase out. There are two kits available, one for a single conversion and one for a double conversion for 2-cylinder units.
