Pressure Sensors
Pressure sensors control and monitor pressure levels in heating and cooling systems to keep them running efficiently and safely. They are used in rooftop units, chillers and boilers, and variable refrigerant flow systems. Their role is to track and measure air pressure or refrigerating in HVAC systems.
Transmitting live data to control boards and building automation systems and helping to maintain a stable system are also tasks handled by pressure sensors. Pressure sensors also prevent unsafe pressure levels that can damage compressors or other HVAC components....Read more
Early detection of faulty pressure sensors can prevent downtime and emergency service calls, both of which can be expensive. Fluctuating pressure readings, system error codes, or compressors not starting up, running continuously or short cycling can all be signs of a failing pressure sensor. Systems shutting down suddenly can also be a sign of a failing pressure sensor because the system may be receiving faulty pressure data.
Scheduled maintenance should include checking the sensor looking for signs of corrosion or damage. It is also vital to ensure wiring and connectors aren’t loose or fraying. Using a manual pressure gauge to compare sensor output with gauge readings should also be part of preventative maintenance.
